What is it about?

This paper develops a software module for safety of UAVs. This module uses information from a conventional UAV autopilot, where if a fault is detected, the module will trigger an appropriate autonomous safe response. In this work, it is assumed that landing the aircraft is not an option and the module looks for a safe crash location away from areas of high population density.
