What is it about?

Helicopter control is a complex and demanding task for the human pilot. In this paper, a haptic assistance system is designed to help pilots to perform their desired maneuvers. Specifically, the paper proposes a novel approach to design the haptic feedback when the target trajectory is not known a priori. A Pilot Intent Estimator is developed to generate pilot intended trajectories (i.e, intended maneuvers). The proposed system is evaluated in a pilot-in-the-loop experiment performed in a fixed-base simulator.
