What is it about?

New airplanes require a significant number of wind-tunnel and flight-test data before they can be deemed safe. However, these experimental data are expensive in terms of fuel consumption and flight time, thus, the number of experimental data should be reduced thanks to a better aero-structural modeling of aircraft, and its engine. In this paper, an original engine performance modeling is presented for optimization of flight trajectories. The flight trajectories are optimized with respect to fuel consumption and flight time, and is validated with flight test data; therefore, this research is useful for green aircraft technology development.
