What is it about?

This paper presents an emerging application of semantic technologies in satellite launch vehicle design practices. We present the design and development of ontology for Launch vehicle mission simulations and its role in reducing the expertise-dependency and enhance the quality of existing practices.

Why is it important?

As the works related to application of ontology in Launch Vehicle design process are very limited, compared to other domains, we feel, this work would contribute in initiating the trend for large scale deployment of semantic approaches in the domain of launch vehicle design.

Perspectives

We feel that the methodology developed in the paper paves the way for considerable future work where need for even more detailed ontologies can be addressed and the advantages of such knowledge modeling coupled with computational reasoning can be realized.
