Discovering Reentry Vehicle Characteristics Using Nondimensional Equations of Motion and Dimensional Observations

What is it about?

More countries are developing space vehicles intended to be reused, such as space planes. We show a technique for "reverse engineering" some critical parameters of those vehicles through the use of classic non-dimensional equations of motion coupled with dimensional measurements of trajectories before and after passing through the atmosphere.
