What is it about?
Urban air mobility is concerned with transport of people and goods in urban centres by means of flying taxis capable of vertical take-off and landing. To scale industrial developments, operation of flying taxis without human intervention will be required, which raises significant challenges in terms of safety. We propose a novel computationally efficient and robust control algorithm that can be the basis of a reliable autopilot for flying taxis in urban air mobility scenarios. We show that this algorithm can be leveraged to successfully control the vehicle autonomously even in the presence of external disturbances such as wind gusts.
