What is it about?

The trajectory optimization method for increasing the effectiveness of the kinetic impact to deflect an Earth-threatening asteroid is developed. Using the Impact-Geometry Maps that visualize the kinetic impact effectiveness, spacecraft can yield larger deflection distance without increasing the impact velocity.
