What is it about?
The strategies to mitigate airport congestion, such as departure metering, require accurate and validated models of operations at the airport, as well as in the surrounding terminal airspace. Currently, there is a lack of good models that capture congestion at multiple locations (runways, ramps and taxiways) -- a characteristic of many large airports. To fill this knowledge gap, we present an integrated surface-airspace model of aircraft departure operations from pushback to the final departure fix.
