What is it about?
The ability to meet a controlled time of arrival during a continuous descent operation will enable environmentally friendly and fuel efficient descent operations while simultaneously maintaining airport throughput. This paper quantifies the benefits, in terms of environmental impact and controlled time of arrival compliance, of including wind observations emitted by nearby aircraft right before computing the optimal trajectory plan.
