What is it about?
A CFD solver is coupled with an atmospheric propagation method to compute how loud the sonic boom created by an aircraft at high altitude sounds to humans on the ground. This analysis is then wrapped in an optimization framework to allow designers to minimize the sonic boom loudness by changing the shape of the aircraft.
