What is it about?
Trailing vortices generated by three jet transport aircraft in high altitude cruising flight, have been measured together with the prevailing environmental conditions in detail by a research aircraft. The predictions of wake vortex transport and decay by two fast-time wake vortex model versions have been compared to the observations and the models' suitability for onboard wake vortex prediction and warning during cruise have been discussed.
