What is it about?

During emergency landings, helicopter pilots perform autorotation maneuvers where the main rotor is driven purely by air moving through it rather than from the engine. We use both low and high fidelity simulations to model a realistic, full vehicle helicopter in autorotation to analyze how each of the aircraft components aerodynamically interact and affect the aircraft's autorotational performance.
