What is it about?

When two propellers are closely spaced, the shed helical tip vortices from one propeller will interact with those shed from the other propeller. We show here that the decay rate of the strength of vortices is much faster when compared to results for a single propeller. Further, we show that the relative phase, or relative blade positions, exerts minimal impact on the formation, strength, and evolution of the shed tip vortices.
