What is it about?

Although kites may appear to be simple, the interactions between aerodynamic forces, kite weight, and the tether attaching the kite to the ground lead to complicated changes in performance under varying wind conditions. This paper measures aerodynamic properties of two different styles of kites using a wind tunnel. Using the measured aerodynamic properties in a model provides a framework for understanding how geometry of the bridle that attaches the kite to the tether can be designed to maximize the flight elevation.
