Scale Resolving Simulation of Buffet Effects Induced by Ultrahigh Bypass Ratio Nacelle Installation

What is it about?

When aircraft are equipped with very large engines below the wings detrimental aerodynamic effects may occur. We show that these effects can be accurately simulated by locally resolving the turbulent airflow in high detail while the remaining part of the aircraft is simulated using a more simple model.
