What is it about?

The Environmental Control System (ECS) provides pressurized and conditioned air to the aircraft cabin to guarantee passenger comfort and safety during flight at high altitudes. However, the ECS is the largest consumer of non-propulsive power onboard conventional aircraft. We propose and optimize a new ECS architecture that has the potential to reduce the associated fuel consumption by 18%.
