What is it about?
To contribute to the reduction of emissions of the aviation sector, new architectures and powertrains utilizing electric propulsion are under study. To identify technological drivers and quickly rule out unfeasible designs, MDAO tools have been identified as a key enabler. We introduce in this paper an open-source and modular OAD framework for the sizing of hybrid and electric aircraft that aims at providing medium fidelity assessment of new designs.
