Flight-Test Determination of Longitudinal Stability Using System Identification

What is it about?

Conventional flight test techniques used to investigate the longitudinal stability of airplanes are time-consuming and their results are very sensitive to pilot technique. This work demonstrates that modern system identification techniques can reduce the uncertainty in the neutral point location results, while requiring only a fraction of the flight test time.
