What is it about?

Riveting is widely used in the aeronautical industry for structural assemblies. One main parameter to control the riveting quality is the squeezing force applied to the rivet to assure its adequate plastic conformation. The usual algebraic formula for the squeezing force calculation tends to overestimate the force required for normal squeezing ranges and, at the same time, underestimate the force for high squeezing conformations. In this work, a new algebraic formula is derived and proposed which can adjust the force calculated values for both normal and high squeezing ranges.
