Aerodynamic Performance and Static Stability Characteristics of Aircraft with Tail-Mounted Propellers

What is it about?

The high propulsive efficiency makes propellers appealing for future energy efficient aircraft compared to turbofan engine installations. The more pronounced interior noise can be mitigated by mounting the propellers towards the rear of the aircraft. In this paper, the stability, control and performance aspects of such novel configuration is addressed by a combined experimental and numerical investigation.
