What is it about?
We investigate inter-rotor spacing effects on wake dynamics of coaxial rotors. Important features such as wake trajectory, miss distance, BVI phenomenon, and wake instability are affected by IRS. Because of complicated wake dynamics of coaxial rotors, there are difficulties in simulating wake geometry by the general CFD techniques. We suggest the high-wake-resolution method which is a novel combination of the truncated vortex tube model and high-order wavenumber-extended finite-volume interpolation scheme.
