What is it about?
The novelty of the article lies in the merging of two concepts, delta wings, and corrugations for the enhancement of the aerodynamic performance of MAVs. The delta wings have high maneuverability while the corrugations (inspired by insect wings) improve the aerodynamic characteristics like lift and lift to drag ratio. Our results highlight that delta wings could be a viable alternative to existing designs of fixed-wing MAVs for missions requiring a larger range or longer endurance. Furthermore, corrugations could be deployed on other MAV planforms for enhancing the aerodynamic characteristics without any significant weight or drag penalty.
