What is it about?

We present a new gradient study on design of the aft boundary layer ingesting propulsor for the STARC-ABL aircraft concept that considers propulsor sizing and inlet distortion effects. The study was performed using gradient based optimization with analytic derivatives on a fully coupled aeropropulsive model with a 3-D viscous aerodynamic model and a thermodynamic propulsion cycle model.
