What is it about?
A common strategy for engine designers to increase gas turbine engine thermal efficiency is to increase turbine inlet temperature. This necessitates the usage of cooling flows to improve the durability of turbine components. This document reviews the detrimental effects of coolant flows on turbine isentropic efficiency.
