What is it about?
Characterizing the plasma in electric propulsion thrusters for space applications, such as ion thrusters, is important to obtain a better understanding of physical processes that take place these devices. Krypton is currently discussed as a propellant. The experimental investigation of the propellant flow in the thruster may help to optimze ion thrusters with respect to their oprational lifetime.
