What is it about?

Laminar-turbulent transition plays a critical role in the aerodynamic performance of compressors and is sensitive to flow conditions and external disturbances. This study is the first attempt to investigate the effects of free-stream turbulence on the mode and location of laminar-turbulent transition in the compressor cascade under both subsonic and transonic conditions using the LES method.
