What is it about?
A general velocity-altitude flight-regime diagram applicable for aeronautics and astronautics in Earth's proximity is presented. The diagram elicits six flight regimes, including endo-atmospheric, trans-atmospheric, and spaceflight regimes. The diagram extends previous ones presented in classic hypersonics textbooks by bridging the gap with astronautics and providing a comprehensive view of flight trajectories up to Martian orbital altitudes.
