What is it about?

The most commonly used particle drag models used in dust-laden flow analysis that are valid over a wide range of particle flow environments are based on the assumption that the particles are spherical, but particles used in ground-based experiments or experienced in a Martian entry are not spherical. This paper adds non-spherical particle effects to the widely-used Loth drag model and compares the impact this augmentation has on comparisons to experimental data taken in the DLR GBK test facility.
