Dimensionality Reduction for Onboard Modeling of Uncertain Atmospheres

What is it about?

Onboard modeling of the natural variability in planetary atmospheres is important for improved guidance methods currently under development. To address this modeling challenge, we investigate compact models that compress the complexity of traditional atmosphere models to the point of feasibility for repeated use onboard a spacecraft.
