Electrostatic Levitation on Atmosphere-Less Planetary Bodies with Ionic-Liquid Ion Sources

What is it about?

The possibility of levitating on planetary bodies such as the Moon or asteroids through charging the body's surface with ions from an ion source is investigated. We develop a simple analytical model to estimate the required charge for levitation and verify the model through experiments in a vacuum environment.
