What is it about?

Airplanes and rockets are subjected to unsteady forces while flying through the air. The steady part of this lift and drag forces are straightforward to determine, but the unsteady parts are not. The present paper shows an improved means of determining this unsteady forces from the measurement of pressure fluctuations from a few points on the vehicle. It also provides verification of the procedure from measurements in a wind tunnel using fast-response pressure-sensitive paint.
