What is it about?
Analyzing and visualizing output in order to gain insight into the problem at hand from simulation codes can become unwieldy for simulations that run on supercomputers. This paper discusses strategies to make this analysis and visualization process much more efficient for the United States High Performance Computing (HPCMP) Computational Research and Engineering Acquisition Tools and Environments Air Vehicles (CREATE-AV) Kestrel simulation code.

Why is it important?
We begin examining in situ output (output that is generated during a simulation run with reduced data size) for Kestrel and have added some techniques for allowing users to easily customize their desired in situ output based on the problem definition.
