What is it about?
We investigate the aerodynamic performance enhancement effect of a wing with spanwise bending wingtips at a post-stall angle of attack. The inherent mechanism of wings with spanwise bending wingtip differs from plunging airfoils or wings significantly due to the complex interaction between chordwise vortex and spanwise vortex near the wingtip. Therefore, we develop the aerodynamic moment partitioning method considering the 3D moving boundary to reveal its mechanism quantitatively.
