What is it about?

High-order spatial schemes are an essential numerical technique to properly consider the rotorcraft aeroacoustics characteristics in the rotorcraft design procedure. However, prediction results of aeroacoustics characteristics vary depending on the non-linear part of each scheme even if the spatial schemes have theoretically the same order-of-accuracy. This is because the non-linear part erroneously activates in the local discretized domain. Therefore, we newly define a local-order-of-accuracy index(LAI) to quantitatively assess high-order spatial schemes in the discretized domain. Numerical analyses using the LAI are conducted in several benchmark tests. Two requisites of spatial scheme for precise prediction of rotorcraft aeroacoustics are discovered.
