What is it about?

Beamforming utilizing a far-field microphone array is a widely-used tool to study and characterize aeroacoustic sources. Its spatial resolution might be limited for certain applications due to the constraint on the number of microphones. We present a continuous-scan beamforming approach that tackles the microphone spacing issue, achieving highly-resolved noise source maps. The method is validated using a synthetic source and then applied to image the supersonic flow field of a screeching jet.
