What is it about?

Noise generated by fans and propellers disturbs human beings and animal life. In this research, we show that the existing formulation is not accurate, and we propose a new mathematical expression to improve noise prediction to design silent fans and propellers.

Why is it important?

The propeller of ships creates noise because of the turbulence in the water. This noise disturbed the animal life in the ocean, affecting their communication, preying, and mating. Mathematical formulas are used to predict the noise to design more silent propellers. In the research that we conducted, we proposed a correction to these mathematical formulas that make the prediction of the propeller noise more accurate. This will benefit animal life because more silent propellers will be used.
