What is it about?

A laser-based sensor was used to measure conditions in a NASA facility that is used to recreate spacecraft reentry environments. The sensor was optimized and allowed for measurements at extreme conditions, which led to an increased understanding of the spacecraft conditions created by the facility. This in turn provided opportunities for facility performance improvements.
