What is it about?

In this work, it provided two new methods based on the Euclidean norm as the normalization conditions to pay more focuses on the use and computation of the second-order eigenpair sensitivities for an asymmetrical damped system. So that the new value of complex mode after undergoing perturbation in terms of design parameters can be calculated in the proposed algebraic or direct method. Like other algebraic methods, this article outlines the proof of numerical stability. Different from Nelson’s direct method, this article considered complexity of the solution space in complex vector space, and the partitioning scheme of proposed direct algorithm is more practical. The two proposed methods have remarkable advantages in computational cost.

Why is it important?

An algebraic method and a direct method are presented to determine the sensitivities of the complex modal parameters in an asymmetrical system. The two proposed methods have remarkable advantages in computational cost. The higher efficiency and accuracy of the proposed algebraic algorithm has been proved in this paper.

Perspectives

It is my pleasure to write this article, because I have a long-term collaborator. This article also led scholars concerned about sensitivity analysis to contact me and promote the research on sensitivity analysis methods.
