What is it about?
The nonlinear behavior of instability wave of a hypersonic laminar boundary-layer was investigated using a non-intrusive diagnostic, i.e., focused laser differential interferometer. The nonlinearity evolution of the instability waves along the streamwise and wall-normal directions are obtained and analyzed. The study provides details of nonlinear instability, which are helpful for understanding hypersonic boundary-layer transition.
