What is it about?
Efforts to improve overall aircraft aerodynamic efficiency, has led to tighter integration between airframe and propulsion system. The highly-coupled aerodynamics poses challenges in understanding and quantifying the physics behind potential benefits. Here we explore a different approach to full-aircraft aerodynamic assessment, by considering the energy content of flow mechanisms and how they relate back to force decompositions.
