What is it about?
Shape optimization using the Lattice-Boltzmann Method is developed to reduce the drag force in aerodynamic cases. Our novel adjoint solver is used to calculate the sensitivities of the drag force with respect to the shape of an object. The proposed method is applied to a 3D turbulent case (the flow of air around a car at a speed of 130 km/h) to show its usefulness in the industry.
