What is it about?
EVTOL aircraft for Urban Air Mobility has gained increasing research interest, but less attention has been paid to its maneuverability. The paper develops the concept of maneuverability sets for investigating the acceleration capabilities of a “lift + cruise” eVTOL aircraft. The maneuverability sets describe the aircraft's maximum acceleration capabilities in different directions. They also depict the impacts of disturbances and engine failures on acceleration capabilities. Furthermore, the maneuverability sets are used to evaluate the dynamical feasibility of a take-off trajectory under disturbances and engine failures.
