What is it about?
This paper introduces an artificial lumbered flight algorithm (ALFA) that mimics bird flight. It serves to enable light-weight unmanned fixed-wing vehicles (2 to 55 pounds) to soar in unclassified and classified wind updrafts. The paper develops ALFA and examines its flight in flight tests.
