What is it about?

Shock control bumps reduce drag in modern transport aircraft by mitigating wave drag. Researchers analyzed different SCB shapes using numerical simulations, focusing on how robust they could be made. By putting an efficient version of SCBs on a three-dimensional wing, drag was reduced by up to 2%, potentially saving 1000 kg of fuel during a 9000 km flight.
