What is it about?
We conduct numerical simulations of Gurney flaps, both classical single flaps and double flaps, the latter a seldom studied kind that offers the advantage of geometric symmetry. We show improvements in airfoil performance and thus suggest scaling rules based on the boundary layer thickness and offer insight into possible practical applications.
