What is it about?
Sometimes emergency locator transmitters (ELTs) in general aviation aircraft (GA) are damaged during a crash and fail to operate, which hinders rescue operations of the vehicle occupants. In this paper computer simulations of three GA crash scenarios are successfully compared with test data. These simulation models indicate likely damage locations of GA aircraft in a crash and can be used to evaluate ELT mounting configurations.
