What is it about?

In this study we show how a distributed-propulsion system with propellers placed above the wing affects the energy consumption of a hybrid-electric aircraft. For this, an aerodynamic model is created and validated using experimental data. The model is then applied to an aircraft design tool, to investigate how the aerodynamic benefits provided by the model translate into aircraft-level benefits.
