What is it about?

As an aircraft wing or wind-turbine blade operates at a condition close to aerodynamic stall, the airflow separates from the wing surface. Being able to easily detect flow separation can help avoid stall. We introduce a novel sensor that detects flow separation. This sensor, which can be developed as a self-contained device, can be attached to a wing surface without requiring external connections or wing structural modifications.
