What is it about?
Upper surface trailing edge blowing is proven to be the most efficient active flow control method for lift enhancement in fixed wing aircraft, however restrictions associated with high mass flow requirements prevents this method to be used in today's platforms. We are investigating the flow interaction of ejected flows on actuated flaps in order to find out if we can reduce the mass flow requirements for small-scale UAV platforms. To achieve this, we are testing a low aspect ratio circulation control wing using Phase-locked PIV and wind tunnel testing.
