What is it about?

This research proposes and studies a novel helicopter concept in which the two rotors of a coaxial rotor configuration has completely different rotor radii to eliminate the overlap between both rotors with objective of reducing the losses due to rotor-rotor interactions. For this, the performance comparison is made, first using simple analytical formulas and then using Blade Element Momentum Theory simulations to establish the relative performance of dissimilar configuration with respect to conventional single and coaxial rotor designs.
